Welcome back to "The Microdose Diet" newsletter, your trusted source for achieving more success, passion, and happiness in your life and your career. š I am Peggy Van de Plassche, I spent 20 years in the financial services and technology industries. After discovering the magic of mushrooms for my own mental wellness and performance, I realized how powerful psilocybin could be for personal and professional transformation. This is how āThe Microdose Dietā protocol was born. Find out more at the bottom. Happy Reading!
I found myself in an interesting situation last week. I watched the Opening Ceremony of the Olympics in Paris and found it stunning, innovative, and exuberant. However, the following day, after reading articles from US, UK, and Canadian publications, I wondered if we saw the same event. Their comments were overwhelmingly negative and seemingly ill-intentioned. It made me pause. It was as if saying that the opening ceremony in Paris was great meant it wasnāt great in London, Vancouver, or Atlanta. Complimenting one seemed to take something away from another. While itās obvious that there have been many great opening ceremonies in Olympic history, it felt like we were operating in a zero-sum game where complimenting one means criticizing another.
In the grand scheme of things, compliments donāt take anything from anyone. However, weāve all felt that sting when a friend or coworker gets complimented, whether they are present or not. šThis is human nature. Iāve seen this technique used in a manipulative way in both professional and romantic settings.
In response, I often see the protective mechanism of overcompensating from the āwitnessā of the compliment. They might criticize the person, bring it back to their own success, or claim that itās thanks to them and technically the compliment should be addressed to them.
Iāve been caught in similar situations, thinking that a compliment not addressed to me was an attack. š”ļø If, like me, youāve had the āinteresting opportunityā to deal with manipulative individuals, itās likely they used this insecurity to get what they wanted from you, even if what they wanted was just to make you doubt yourself and feel āless than.ā
Fortunately, this isnāt a frequent occurrence. Usually, compliments are just thatācompliments.
So why do we feel āless thanā when someone else is complimented in our presence? Technically, it doesnāt take anything from us to say that someone else is great.
If you feel diminished when you hear someone else be complimented, ask yourself, āWhy do I feel that way? How come someone being complimented makes me feel āless thanā?ā
The answer is self-worth, specifically a wobbly intrinsic self-worth. š
After 15 years of personal development work, I realized that high well-being and ethical success depend on oneās level of intrinsic self-worth. In The Microdose Diet protocol, the highest intention one can have is to increase their self-generated self-worth.
Seeing that many of us (all of us?) suffer from these limitations and how much it costs us, I lead you through a 90-day program that supports this intention and enables you to go to the next level of self-worth. Through one-on-one coaching, small groups, a self-study online course, or the book, you can thrive at this next level of self-worth.
Formulated with The Microdose Diet protocol in mind, the Brain Power Microdose helps support memory, mental focus, stamina, cognitive health, mood & brain functions, while relieving symptoms of stress & anxiety.
The best way to lead a successful, passionate, and happy life is to have a high degree of self-worth. šŖ
People often fear that higher self-worth will make them arrogant, unpleasant, or even bullies. This couldnāt be further from the truth! People with high self-worth are grounded, self-confident, and donāt need to diminish others to elevate themselves. The arrogant people you fear becoming are actually those with low self-worth, self-confidence, and self-love, no matter what they claim or how their external circumstances may look.
Money and success donāt buy self-worthāthey buy external validation. Very different!
My life journey has been about increasing my self-worth, self-love, and self-confidence. Life is much more pleasant when you trust yourself and know you can do it, whatever āitā is. Thereās no need to feel threatened when someone else is complimented. You know your worth is independent of others. And that freedom, my friend, is an incredible feeling! š
Wishing you all the success, passion, and happiness on your path!
