🍄How to Prepare for Microdosing Psilocybin

Welcome back to The Microdose Diet a newsletter about getting more success, passion and happiness in your life and career by using alternative medicines, such as microdosing psychedelics. 🍄

As you can imagine I am asked a lot of questions when it comes to microdosing psilocybin. From where to buy the products (here 😉), which products to buy, to the dosage, frequency and everything in between. However there is a very important question none ever asks me: “How do I prepare to start microdosing psychedelics?” As you probably know “Victory loves preparation”, or “Amat Victoria Curam” for our lucky friends who studied Latin in Catholic schools and who are likely still traumatized by both.

This week I will then focus on preparation. If you carefully read this newsletter, as I am sure you are doing weekly, some of the themes will seem familiar. In any cases they are important, so a repetition won’t hurt (no quiz at the end though!). And if you are already microdosing, better late than never, feel free and empowered to follow these practices nonetheless.

In the eventuality that you are not microdosing and have no intention to do so, this is not a problem; these are great practices to implement anyway and why not make them part of your 2024 reboot?!

Enjoy this edition and Happy belated Thanksgiving to our American readers!

Ideally engage in these practices 2-3 weeks before you start microdosing, so you are clearer when you introduce psilocybin.

🍎 Detox Your Body

Gradually limit your intake of alcohol, tobacco, recreational drugs, sugar, ultra-processed food and meat. In parallel, increase your water intake, drink herbal cleansing teas, dry brush, go for a lymphatic massage (or regular massage), take an Epsom salt bath, eat fresh fruits and vegetables, work out and sweat, got to a sauna.

Chemicals are present in our environment under so many forms; air, food, water, cleaning products, cosmetics, prescribed drugs, to only name the main ones. As much as you can upgrade your food to organics, filter your water, install air purifiers, swap your cosmetics and cleaning products to cleaner brands.

You can also explore cleanses, such as liver cleanse via natural supplements, colon hydrotherapy, juice cleanses and so on.

There are many many ways to detox your body (and breaking news: your brain is part of your body!😄). You really want these toxins to leave your body and brain as much as possible.

Do your best to decrease the “bad” and increase the “good.” You want to make space for new, great, supporting thoughts, cells, and habits. If you are clogged up, it is impossible to add anything great.

🧽 Clear Your Mind

Create more mental space with more thoughtful use of to-do lists, emails, schedule management, social media and TV.

Start with shortening your to-do list by ruthlessly cutting useless and energy-sucking activities (and people). You might have to learn to say no, which is a great skill to learn at any age. 😀

Less screen time is ideal, so limit the number of emails, zoom meetings, social media scrolls, TV programs and other non-necessary screen-related activities.

🧹 Clear Your Space

You have started to clear your body and mind; now is the time to get rid of everything that is not serving you. Old magazines, newspapers, books, clothes, knick-knacks—all of that needs to go.

Decluttering is a great way to unstuck yourself. The goal is to create space for new opportunities.

This clearing is not limited to your home, go for it at the office, in your car and any other places you spend time at.

👄 Upgrade Your Language

Avoid any negative exaggerations, such as “the traffic is horrible; the food is disgusting; the show was awful.” Every time you utter these words, you are anchoring yourself deeper in negativity. You can even go one step further and use positive exaggerations for the things you like, or to compliment yourself or others. We can never have too much of those!

Avoid any strong negative figures of speech, such as; “that meeting is a pain in the neck; this presentation is killing me.” This is catnip for your subconscious that loves a vivid picture! By making a connection between a physical ailment and an actual situation, you are suggesting to your unconscious what needs to be done (your wish is my command!).

And drop the bitch fest! None ever felt elevated after complaining, alone or in a group.

💡 Set An Intention

A good friend of mine asked me once “what do you mean exactly by “intention”” and “how do you set an intention?”” Intentions can be confused with goals as sometimes they might feel the same.

An intention refers to the purpose behind a particular action. It involves the conscious decision to carry out a specific behavior, often with a desired outcome in mind.

For example, you might plan to exercise regularly for better health (ideally with an even bigger intention behind, such as so you can play soccer with your kids). In that context, your goal or objective might be to go to the gym 4/week, while the intention is “better health”.

You can think about intention as the motivations and thought processes behind your/someone’s actions.

Intention is your why, goals / objectives are your how.

But beware, intentions may not always align with the actual outcomes of actions, hence the saying “The road to hell is paved with good intentions”.

On another note, you may have both conscious and unconscious intentions influencing your behavior thus bringing you mixed results in our life. This is why becoming aware of your unconscious blocks and limitations in order to release or integrate them is so important. The conscious mind is only 14% of the game. Your subconscious hence accounts for 86%. Mindset work alone will never be able to bring you long term stable results if your unconscious mind is not supportive of your intention. This is why The Microdose Diet focuses on removing these unconscious barriers so your conscious intention can finally run the show!

When deciding to microdose, set an intention. There is a reason you are microdosing, whether “better mental health”, “better health”, “increased longevity”, “mood boost”, “better focus”, “increased performance”,…, this is your intention. The goal will be to take a microdose every 2-3 days.

When you’ll take your microdose, you will remind yourself of that intention (don’t just swallow your tab mindlessly). You might even do a quick visualization of what your life would look like once your intention manifests.

Having an intention will help direct your attention in the right direction, the direction of what you desire (mood boost for example).

Hopefully you will stick to most of these practices and make them part of your daily life. You are now ready with plenty of room to bring on great things and people in your life! 😄 It is the perfect time to start microdosing!
