😁How to Accelerate Your Growth 🙌

I mentioned in the past that tapping meditation is as a wonderful tool to get rid of limiting beliefs and patterns. Today I will share more about what tapping is, how it works, how you can use it and what it can do for you.

Easily release limiting beliefs and patterns with tapping meditation

You can watch the video with Kelly Elliott, my amazing tapping coach, from Free Your Life. She explains how tapping can help you release limiting beliefs and PTSD. I have experienced tremendous changes in my life thanks to EFT.

😁 What is tapping

Also called EFT Tapping (Emotional Freedom Technique), tapping meditation is a modality that has really grown in popularity in the Western Hemisphere in the last decade.

Tapping is a powerful stress relief technique, often referred to as an alternative therapy for anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and other conditions.

I was introduced to tapping by my wonderful coach, Lise Janelle a few years ago. I didn’t really explore it much at the time. At the beginning of the pandemic though, one of my great friends reminded me of it and I got hooked!

It was at the time when The Tapping Solution organized its annual tapping summit (which is free); I followed all the sessions, even the ones that initially didn’t resonate with me…and they obviously happened to be the ones I needed the most.

Their next summit, the 15th edition, is actually starting on February, 27th. I highly recommend for you to have a look. Past sessions cover topics such as; healing your body, harnessing the power of your mind, recovering from burnout, or transforming your relationship with money. You will be able to follow sessions that will help you deal with self-love deficiency, insomnia, anxiety, depression and so on.

😁 How does tapping work

Tapping uses the meridian points (Chinese medicine) to reduce stress or negative emotions associated with a situation; you can think about tapping as following the principles of acupuncture (or acupressure).

By tapping on certain meridian points with your fingertips you can restore balance in your body and mind to resolve physical and emotional issues. As you tap, the goal is to mentally “tune in” to the specific issues you wish to address.

The best way to explain how it works and for you to understand the benefits is to try it 😁 And before you even do, know that researchers have shown that EFT Tapping lowers cortisol (the stress hormone) by 43%.

If you ever need more social proof before feeling comfortable tapping with your fingertips on the top of your head, side of your eyes, below your nose and so on, know that Tony Robbins is a big supporter of tapping. He even recorded a couple of tapping meditations for the Tapping Solution App.

You can find hundreds of free and high quality EFT tapping meditations on YouTube; here is one I enjoy (and not too long for you to test 😁) with Nick Ortner (the co-founder of The Tapping Solution) and Marie Forleo.

⚠️ Disclosure: 5 min of tapping may help you rewire your brain and feel more peace! ⚠️

😁 How you can use tapping

I like to combine multiple avenues for tapping; with a practitioner, via digital courses, via an app, podcasts and YT. It gives me flexibility and great results. Here is more detail on the different approaches you can take.

  • With a practitioner

I enjoy working with a practitioner for several reasons. Sessions last 60 min, so first you will never tap that long on your own. Second practitioners will bring you safely in layers you might not have wanted to go on your own or didn’t even know you had to go (the famous blind spots).

I had a mind-bending experience with Kelly during a session where I wanted to focus on my relationship with money. I was expecting that this would bring me to my childhood when poverty mindset, scarce resources and fear of lack were running very high, as were the limiting beliefs associated with the situation. But if tapping did bring me to my childhood, it actually brought me to a very different place: God. For context, I had been raised in a very Catholic environment and even studied in Catholic institutions from kindergarten to business school. The overarching limiting belief -rooted in many more smaller limiting beliefs- Kelly and I uncovered was that having money was bad and that God would not love me if I had money.

As you can imagine this is not a place where I would have ended up by myself. And you can also imagine that this limiting belief was not a great support to my financial health 😁 We tapped it away and my relationship with money has indeed improved!

  • Via digital courses

I like to learn how to do things on my own, so I can then play with the method and experience it with my own tweaks.

For awesome results, I have been combining microdosing psilocybin and visualization with tapping. It really primes my brain and helps me go deeper. I have been getting fabulous results with this regimen 😁

Kelly has a great online course, so you can tap in the comfort of your own home while being guided by a professional.

I learnt to write tapping scripts so I can apply this skill to situations that are relevant to me and where I can’t find the right resources. I can always work on specific situations with a practitioner too, but sometimes it is just more practical for me to do it on my own (and I enjoy testing new things!). I also tap in both English and French (my first language) and sometimes I can’t find good resources in French so I just write the scripts myself!

  • Via YT, podcast, app

I have two paid apps on my phone, one is the tapping solution app (the other one is Mindvalley). They have excellent tapping meditations for many situations; from anxiety, anger, fear, pain, to peace, money, sleep and everything in between. You can even access the audiobooks from Nick and Jessica Ortner in the app.

On YouTube you can find great tapping meditations; Brad Yates have hundreds of them on any subject you might be looking for.

And you can also access tapping meditations through podcasts; I like Tapping Q & A from Gene Monterastelli.

As you can see you have many ways to make tapping a part of your daily life, and it doesn’t have to be long, complicated nor expensive!

😁 What tapping can do for you

Tapping can be helpful in multiple situations.

The first is when confronted with the daily irritants of life. You can’t sleep, you are worried re your bills, you are angry in traffic, you feel agitated, stressed, and so on. Whether you want to tap right away when these uncomfortable feelings arise, whether you’d rather wait for a more opportune time, you will find great relief when tapping. Tapping on your own will quickly lower the intensity of the feelings and you will be able to see the situation from a less passionate / emotional perspective.

The second scenario is in the context of limiting beliefs or repeated negative patterns. The example I used re my relationship with money would fall into this category. It is likely that the situation has multiple deep roots that will need to be addressed several times via different angles. This is where working with a practitioner (1 on 1 or via an online course) will come very handy. And even if you decide to “only” tap alone you will see benefits.

I tap pretty much every day, whether on the small irritants of life (which I have to admit tend to irritate me less and less!) or on my limiting beliefs, such as my relationship with money.

In February, I started a monthly tapping challenge with myself, I tap every day on money. The tapping session can be 3 minutes or 15 minutes, it doesn’t matter. Every day, I have been tapping on my relationship with money. If, in addition, a “daily irritant” appears, such as a Financial Times article supposedly praising diversity that only mentions 1 woman out of 7 writers of colour as an example, I will tap on that too 😁

When you tap don’t be surprised by your physical reactions to the tapping (such as yawning, sneezing, burping), your nervous system is letting go, this is what you want!

I love tapping, it really made a huge difference in my life, especially when combined with microdosing psilocybin. If you want to learn more about microdosing psilocybin please refer to some of my past articles:
