🍄How to Get More Brain Power, Energy and Calm with Adaptogenic Mushrooms

🍄How to Get More Brain Power, Energy and Calm with Adaptogenic Mushrooms

I usually write about “magic” mushrooms and their ability to rewire our brain and calm our nervous system. However, adaptogenic mushrooms are pretty amazing too!

Adaptogenic mushrooms are a group of fungi known for their potential to help the body adapt to stress and maintain balance. These mushrooms, such as reishi, chaga, cordyceps, and lion's mane, are typically used in traditional medicine practices, particularly in Asian cultures.

You can find them at your regular health store. I would not recommend buying supplements online due to high percentage of counterfeits. I take adaptogenic mushrooms, as tinctures, everyday mixed in my morning smoothie. You can also consume adaptogenic mushrooms as teas, and capsules.

Edibles often combine psilocybin (magic mushrooms) with adaptogens to boost their respective effect. A classic combination is psilocybin + lion’s mane to improve cognitive abilities. Adaptogens are considered non-psychoactive, meaning they do not produce hallucinogenic or mind-altering effects. Instead, they support overall well-being, boost the immune system, and provide various health benefits.

Let’s check out the awesome benefits adaptogenic mushrooms can bring you!

🧘Stress Reduction

Adaptogens are often used to help the body manage stress by regulating the stress response and reducing the impact of chronic stress on the body's systems. Reishi and Ashwagandha are used in this capacity thanks to their ability to lower cortisol levels, the hormone associated with stress. They are also known to improve sleep.

🧠Improved Mental Clarity

With reducing stress, improving mental clarity is another use of adaptogenic mushrooms favored by professionals. In that context, Lion’s Mane is hands down the best-loved. It is believed to promote cognitive function and memory. And, as if it was not enough already, to also have nerve-regenerating properties and support overall brain health.

💚 Immune Support

When it comes to supporting the immune system there is a plethora of adaptogenic mushrooms ready to come to the rescue. Astragalus and Ashwagandha support the immune system, helping the body defend against infections and illnesses. Turkey Tail mushrooms are rich in polysaccharides and are used to support the immune system. They may also have potential anti-cancer properties and are often used in conjunction with traditional cancer treatments. Maitake mushrooms are known for their potential to regulate blood sugar levels and support the immune system. They are sometimes used by individuals with diabetes and those looking to boost their overall health. Shiitake mushrooms have immune-boosting properties and are rich in vitamins and minerals. Agaricus blazei mushrooms are believed to have immune-enhancing properties and may help the body adapt to stress. They are commonly used as a dietary supplement

🏃Energy, Vitality and Physical Endurance

Certain adaptogenic mushrooms are believed to enhance physical performance and endurance, making them quite popular among athletes. Cordyceps increase energy levels, improve lung function, and support the body's adaptability to stress. Ginseng and Rhodiola (adaptogens, not adaptogenic mushrooms, but nonetheless noteworthy!) boost energy levels and combat fatigue without the jitters associated with stimulants.

🧯Antioxidant Activity & Anti-Inflammatory Effects

Many adaptogenic mushrooms are rich in antioxidants, which help protect cells from damage caused by free radicals and oxidative stress. They also have anti-inflammatory properties, which could be beneficial for various health conditions. Chaga mushrooms are rich in antioxidants and are often used to support the immune system, reduce inflammation, and boost overall health. They are typically found on birch trees in cold climates (in case you want to forage them ;-)).

After this edition, you are probably looking forward to introducing adaptogenic mushrooms to your wellness routine, good for you! Again, it is important to source quality ingredients to guarantee the efficacy of the products you are ingesting. Good Luck and let me know how it turns out for you!
